II.7 光応用工学科

本学科は,21世紀に大きな成長が見込まれている光産業に携わる技術者·研究者を育成する目的で平成5年10月に開設された.平成6年4月に学生(定員50名)が入学し,平成10年3月に第一期生が卒業した.この間,平成9年5月には新学科棟が完成して教育研究環境も整った.また,平成10年4月には,博士前期課程·光応用工学専攻が新設され,さらに高度な技術者·研究者を育成できる環境となった.本学科の組織構成は光機能材料講座と光情報システム講座の二大講座から成っていて,新しい光機能材料·光デバイスの開発,これらを利用した光機能システム·多次元情報処理システムの開発,を体系化して教育研究を担当している.

II.7.1 光機能材料講座

光機能材料の光物性の解明,光学素子·光デバイスの開発などの分野,それらを作成するプロセス技術に関係する結晶成長の理論と実験に関係する分野,および液晶などの光機能性分子の設計と合成,高分子を中心とした新規光機能性材料の合成と物性評価に関する分野,を主として研究している.
